Moxibustion at MClinic

Moxibustion is known as Moxa. It is a heat therapy that has been combined for centuries with acupuncture. Ground Mugwort plant leaves are used either directly (on the acupuncture needles) or indirectly (to the area being treated) to direct heat into the muscles and areas of pain or discomfort in the body. This promotes the smooth flow of Qi and Blood into the area.
The heat created by the Moxa provides a pleasant sensation of warmth and relaxation in the area. This therapeutic heat improves the blood circulation and stimulates the body’s energy flow, to help promoting the healing process.
Moxa may be used to treat many conditions such as feeling cold, weakness, pains and aches.
Moxibustion is an integral part of an Acupuncture treatment when it’s used to treat various health problems caused by Cold, such as arthritis, stiffness or tension in the muscles, some skin conditions, certain neurological and musculoskeletal imbalances and others.
What Moxa smells like?
There is a smell of burnt grass and some smoke, which are produced when burning Moxa, which some people like and some people don’t. Hence smokeless varieties of Moxa are used in the M Clinic most of the time.
